In my ongoing quest for better mental health, I have wondered, “What happens when I’m 100% mentally healthy on a psychological level?” because I think that I’ll eventually get to that place. The worries, negative thoughts, and intrusive thoughts will one day disappear, and I will be strong enough to achieve my goals without them randomly popping up in my mind.
However, before that even happens, I’ll need to have all the mental tools that I can acquire to deal with the current problems that I am facing. Aside from eliminating thoughts, replacing them, or focusing on things in my reality, there are things that can help in the battle to feel better on a psychological level. The thing that I was told helps the most is nutrition and exercise, but today, I’ll focus on the things that have helped me.
Two key foods that I have been eating since I began managing the problems that I have been facing are kimchi and blueberries. I’ve specifically focused on eating kimchi because it was my favorite fermented food. Fermented foods are high in key bacteria that help with mental health known as lactobacillus and bifidobacterium longum. Blueberries are a prebiotic that aid in the survival of these bacteria. After consistently incorporating blueberries and kimchi into my diet, I’ve found that they have had incredible benefits.
The mind and body are connected, and there are various things that we can eat to help us when we are facing mental health problems. Usually, it has to do with lifestyle, diet, and gut health more than anything. If we change our lifestyle and diet, chances are that we will have a better outlook on life. Otherwise, we would be repeating the same patterns over and over again. This is key when it comes to going beyond psychology because psychology can only do so much. The point is to move beyond psychology so that we aren’t in a place where we have to keep revisiting the same battles in our minds. The point is to achieve mental, emotional, and inner peace and maintain it for a lifetime.
