“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”
– Walt Disney
It’s kind of interesting how I never really think about the fact that we can shape reality. As a matter of fact, it is happening in front of us every single day, we just don’t know it. One way that people shape reality on a daily basis is when they learn to plan. When we are planning, we are inherently shaping the reality that is unfolding in the future.
Imagine what you will be doing this weekend, chances are you’ll go out, see friends, family or stay in and relax along with a few other possible answers. I’m planning to go hiking this weekend so on that specific day around a certain time, that reality will be what I intend it to be. It’s kind of interesting that I didn’t notice this as the most practical way of explaining how the shaping the reality and the future is happening.
Another example of how society shapes reality is simply through jobs. Jobs shape reality and dictate the future because employees and employers with do certain actions or go to certain locations based on the time of day and/or day of the week. Each action serves a purpose generally to serve the customers or company in a way that generates profit. So, people behave and take action in a way to fulfill the goals of the company during those times. There are only so many actions a person can take when working for a company and most of them serves the purpose of building that company.
Much like a company, a lot of individuals have their own goals that they want to achieve. I have simple goals like having an attractive partner, generating lots of income, being a home owner, starting a family, etc. So, the actions that I take need be moving me towards achieving those goals. Of course, there are nuances to this and the journey must also be enjoyable so I’m not in a hurry to achieve these goals. Nonetheless, it’s important that I consistently move towards them and achieve them.
Where sometimes it seems quite simple when it comes to material possessions, it’s not immediately clear how someone can obtain the wealth to pay for the material possessions. While getting a job is the most obvious, there are various ways to obtain wealth to achieve a material goal. This is also true for non-material possessions like having a partner or starting a family. However, in both instances, whether material or non-material it is important to pursue what you really want rather than settling more a secondary version of the goal.
Until the next post, thank you for reading! As always, wishing you love and success!
